Evie in public

We took Evie to dinner last night at a place that has a huge fish tank.  She freaked out over the fish. "LOOK! Fish swimming! LOOK! One, two, three, four, five, six, seven! Blue fish, orange fish! LOOK! Fish swimming water!" with plenty of squeals and jumping up and down.  She was pretty loud, and I couldn't tell if the old couple near us was annoyed or amused at first (you just never know.)

Then she refused to sit in the high chair and started to get even louder, so I took her outside for a bit to try and get her to calm down. She still wouldn't sit until her food came, so I was like... oh great, these people think we suck because our kid won't listen (when really she was just excited to see me, and the fish, and won't sit until food is in front of her.)  Once our food came, she behaved and ate really well and continued to talk about the fish, haha.

When the couple was done eating, they came over and told us that our daughter was an absolute delight, and she just made their day, and "we had one like that, she is 40 now and still makes us smile just as much. your daughter is absolutely precious... cherish her, the time goes so fast." Then they talked to her a bit (and she talked back, which made them happy.)

SO much better than someone coming over and asking you to calm your child down, lol!  We get these kinds of comments a lot, and they always make me smile and feel like maybe we're doing OK at this whole crazy parenting thing. :)
