exercise and the perils of being stationary

I'm surprised by the poll results so far!  What makes everyone think we're having a girl?  Curious since up until now, most people have overwhelmingly guessed boy.  Is it the fact that I'm so fat? ;)  They say a girl steals your beauty. hehehe...

I had water aerobics class tonight.  I joined the YMCA a few weeks ago to utilize their pools.  It feels amazing to swim!  The indoor pool is big enough to get a good workout in, and there's no overbearing sun hovering.  It's been HOT!  I'm not just being the complainer pregnant woman, either.  We had one of the hottest Mays in 10 years or so (trust me on that statistic: I heard it on the radio today.) It's already due to hit the big 1-double-0 by this weekend.  Good thing I have tons of thesis work to catch up on.

Sadly, being pregnant has drastically impacted the way I feel about this weather.  Any other year I'd be nice and tan right now after my religious book-reading-whilst-sunbathing times.  Not so much a fan of even the thought of doing that right now.  Barf.

Anyway, water aerobics is funny because it's all old ladies... and me.  But I don't care.  It feels awesome and we move around constantly for an hour; something that's difficult for me to accomplish when I'm at the pool exercising at my own pace.  Everyone always complains that the pool is too cold, but I think it's perfect.

I only wish I had time for more than one class a week.  Thursdays would be the other evening offering, but that's now being occupied by birthing classes.  Joy!  This week the (first) birthing class has been extended to three and a half hours (up from 2.5 hours), ugh, but the bonus is that the following two weeks are off.  Works for me!  Not a big fan of obligations these days.  Working 40 hours a week is more than enough.

I also love my prenatal yoga classes, but those are winding down.  My paid membership just ran out and I decided that a home dvd will do just as well, especially now that I've been schooled on the various positions to use for specific pains.

Well, my feet are falling asleep so that means I need to move around again.  The many joys of pregnancy!  I think I'll attempt to prop myself with just the right amount of pillows and do some reading before bed.  It's rare I stay up past midnight anymore.

(random ps: Scott and I think the new pennies are creepy.  A shield instead of Abe?  Dumb.)

You are so good about staying healthy and keeping fit in spite of all you have to do during your day. I don't know how you find time to do all you do. You are so right about keeping yourself moving, especially when you have a 40 hour a week "sit-down" job. You need to keep that blood circulating. :::Waving at Scott:::

I'm not keeping up with everything as well as I'd like to; it's important to me to make time for relaxation every day too. Which gives me less time for my thesis. My advisor thinks I should keep mine and the baby's health at the forefront and suggests that I spread it out another semester, meaning I won't graduate until next May. I think I'm OK with that, because at this point I'm really concerned with concentrating on getting through labor and enjoying my last few weeks without a baby.
